Encinitas

So, I will be going to Encinitas for teacher training soon and am looking for any feedback or info from anyone who has taken this workshop before or can offer any info regarding places to go, see, eat, etc.

since the studio is in a different location than it was in years past, advice on where to stay, eat, etc should be taken with a grain.

the studio is no longer in coastal encinitas. it is now a few (3-4) miles inland and is located in a chic-ish suburban shopping mall (that's kind of an oxymoron isn't it?), just above a Border's bookstore. most of the neat funk of the restraunts and rentals in encintas is not to be found anywhere near there. in fact, i'm not sure where the nearest inexpensive hotels would be. for food there are all the usual chain restraunts nearby. there is a panera shop and a whole foods store in the same mall.
to do? it's still socal: walk the beach, surf, hang out and have margaritas and fish tacos. if you're going to have a car, you can still stay in encinitas and enjoy the beach town vibe, but rentals in the summer are probably not cheap. it might be better to look in leucadia, the next beach town to the north. the studio is directly east of leucadia, a simple drive 3 mile drive, even bike-able, if you can do hills.

here's a link to a bunch of photos of last year's class:

mostly just people demo'ing poses or padjusting each other in poses. the new studio will likely be quite warm by that time of year and that time of day, so bring fluids every day. it is also not a large studio. the TT class is typically around 40 people i think. that number by itself is too large for the studio. to avoid completely crowding out the locals, usually about 20 strong on an average weekday, the TT group will have to split up and alternate practice times. even split up, it's going to be mat to mat crowded the first few days.

Apparently teacher training is a zoo at the studio, as this is my first year there, I am interested to see...

Yeah "j" had it right about the location. If you are into all the commercial frou frou, there is some yummy eats nearby and great shopping. Jimbos is in the same shopping center too.

Not sure where to stay as I don't think of La Costa as a big hotel place. There is some coastal places that I can think of though off of Poinsettia/Ave Encinas, but it is a bit of a drive from the studio.
